洋楽（マイケル・ジャクソンのスリラー）は自由英作で使える

マイケルジャクソンのThrillerは、実は朗読してくれる箇所に多くの学習材料が含まれています。There構文、使役動詞、知覚動詞、そして基本動詞の後ろに不定詞がくるのか、動名詞がくるのかといった受験生が苦手としている箇所を巧みに歌詞に使ってくれています。

MJというと、個人的にはBADのBGMの方が好きなのですが、英作で使うにはちょっと厳しいものがあります。

今回はThrillerの歌詞を見てみましょう。

そして、ここからのヴィンセント・プライスの朗読が秀逸です。英作で使うとしびれる表現がたくさん詰まっています。

韻を踏んでいる箇所は同じ色で塗って統一しています。

 

Darkness falls across the land　

(自動詞なので後ろに前置詞)

暗闇があたりに広がる

 

The midnight hour is close at hand　

(is close at hand 重要イディオム)

真夜中の時間がもうすぐやってくる

 

Creatures crawl in search of blood　

(forではなくin search of)

(動詞なら、search 場所 for モノ)

"Hey, check it out, the UFO you see over there is carrying lots of creatures that are in search of blood and the funk of forty thousand years and grizzly ghouls are closing in to terrorize your neighborhood," said the girl.

The boy, however, couldn't resist his curiosity to keep reading the book, ALL ABOUT UFOs, illustrating how the aliens gonna strike the planet Earth.

 

ちょっと無理やり感はありますが、なんとか書けます。

英作文で真面目すぎる教材で飽きてしまったら、たまにはYouTubeでマイケルジャクソンでも聴いて表現を覚えてしまうと、思わず得点を稼げることがあります。ぜひ試してみてください。
